Rains lash several parts of Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The weather in Hyderabad has experienced a sudden shift. After enduring several days of intense heat, the city's residents welcomed relief with rain on Thursday.
The downpour, accompanied by strong winds, affected various areas within the GHMC limits. Streets in Begum Bazaar, Kothi, Sultan Bazaar, Abids, Basheer Bagh, Nampally, Liberty, Himayat Nagar, Narayanaguda, Lakdikapul Tank Bund, and other locations were inundated, with some roads submerged under waist-deep water.
This severe weather caused challenges for motorists and pedestrians alike, with vehicles stalling in several areas. Additionally, many trees were toppled by the gusty winds, leading to traffic disruptions.
In a separate incident, a large tree fell onto a car on the road from Khairatabad to Panjagutta during the heavy rainfall. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the accident, though traffic congestion extended for several kilometers on the Khairatabad-Panjagutta route.
Additional Traffic Commissioner Joel David arrived at the scene to assess the situation. The DRS team promptly removed the tree and restored traffic flow.
Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has announced that all districts in Telangana State will experience rain from Thursday to Sunday. Moreover, the day and night temperatures, which have been above average, are expected to decrease. The IMD-Hyderabad has also issued thunderstorm alerts for all districts within the state.
